The Ryle’s Tube is long and a narrow bore tube made out of polyurethane or of silicone. It is used to reach a patient’s stomach for feeding. We have well qualified and experienced Ryles Tube change at Home in Delhi.

  • Assess patient’s level of consciousness and ability to cooperate.
  • Gather Equipment - Ryle's tube, Lubricant, Syringe, pH indicator strips or test kit, Glass of water with a straw, Tape or securing device, Personal protective equipment
  • Positioning - Place the patient in a high Fowler's position (sitting upright at 60-90 degrees)

  • Perform hand hygiene and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Measure from the tip of the nose to the earlobe, then down to the xiphoid process. Mark the length on the tube.
  • Lubricate the distal 10 cm of the tube with water-soluble lubricant.
  • Insert the tube into the nostril, directing it along the floor of the nasal passage.
  • Once past the nasopharynx, ask the patient to swallow (offer sips of water if safe), advancing the tube gently as they swallow.

  • Provide oral and nasal care to prevent dryness and irritation.

  • Do not force the tube; remove and attempt in the other nostril if resistance is met.
